fahinfo.org Folding@Home Project information site

-=fahinfo.org=-

fahinfo.org is a database of collected Folding@Home project scores. The scores are submitted along with details about the CPU on which they were run. This information will show which workunits are best (and worst) for specific CPUs, and also highlight the differences between the different cores on the same CPU type. The more data collected and added the better, as this will serve to make the PPD/GHz values more accurate. You can lookup the work-unit (by project number) you are currently running to see how well it could or should be doing on your particular CPU, I might even make it recommend the CPU that you should be using for that WU. This site was written by and is maintained by me, Uncle_Fungus, and has been hand-coded from scratch in PHP and MySQL.

Submit score bug fixed

A data verification error has been corrected that allowed people to submit data for SMP WUs when their machine data was incorrect. If your machines have smpcores set to either 0 or 1, you will be prompted to reconfigure them if you try and submit SMP scores.

Several data points have already got through thanks to this bug, and I am attempting to reprocess them now.

Please be aware that several of the averages scores reported will be anomalous whilst this is occurring.

Odd stats

I've just been investigating a problem with the site stats scripts. During this testing I had to run the update scripts manually, which cause all the data registered today to be moved into the main data tables prematurely.
This won't cause a problem, but if you're wondering where your score from today went, now you know.

WU Search updated

The WU Search page has been updated to now include data specifying the minimum CPU speed required for each architecture in order to meet the deadline. This is calculated based on the preferred deadline and not the final deadline, since results returned after the preferred deadlines are scientifically useless.

SMP WUs will show an information bar informing you that you need to divide the recommended CPU speed by the number of CPU cores that the SMP client is using. This is necessary since the data is stored per core and not per client.
I am aware that PPD doesn't scale linearly with core count, but this is more to provide a reasonable estimate rather than an authoritative value.

CPU Management changes

Now that fahinfo.org has been running for over a year, I've decided to allow registered users to add entries to the master CPU tables used by the site. This means that you no longer have to contact me to get new CPUs added to the lists, because you can now do it yourself.
Obviously there will be some sort of control, i.e. I get told whenever a change is made, but now there is no excuse not to add machines just because the CPU spec doesn't exist in the lists.
This also means that I don't personally have to go hunting around for all the different CPU specs, I can rely on you guys to do that for me!

Another minor change has been made to the edit machine pages, simply warning you that changing machine specs will unlink them from previously submitted scores.

I had another go at getting some nice anti-aliased fonts working for all the graphs and charts etc., but failed miserably again. It looks like I'm going to have to fix some major sections of the graphing library in order to get it to work on my production server (they work fine on my development server).

Initial PS3 Update

Several sections of the site now have support for the new PS3 clients. As soon as there becomes a quick and easy way of extracting "real" frame times from the PS3 client, you can start submitting PS3 data.
The only things missing are the graphs available in the Graphs/Buyers guide section, everything else should be there.

You'll also notice that the various charts on the Site Stats page have been updated too, to include both PS3 and GPU data.

When it eventually does become possible to get PS3 frame times, the CPU specs are:
STI->Cell BE->PS3, and the OS is "Sony PS3"
